Senior Tool Crib Attendant - Lakewood, CO

POSITION SUMMARY:  Receives, stores, and issues sub-parts, hardware, personal protective gear, hand tools, machine tools, tooling, dies, fixtures, materials, equipment and other items to machine operators, assembly workers and others in a fast-paced environment.  Initiates programs to reduce cost and improve quality and performance of tools.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·           Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work crew.

·           Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

·           Trains new Tool Crib Attendants.

·           Maintains records as required.

·           Confers with various supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

·           Purchases items necessary for operation of the production floor.

·           Has special tools built by an approved outside vendor as required.

·           Initiates cost reduction and quality improvement programs for tooling.  Monitors and carries-through these programs and provides reports to management as needed.

·           Locates lost or misplaced tools and equipment. 

·           Maintains secure storage of tools and fixtures.

·           Monitors and tracks Kanban items and initiates purchases as required.

·           Prepares periodic inventory or maintains perpetual inventory of tools and equipment, manually or using computer.

·           Receives, unpacks, and stores incoming tools and equipment, and purchases items to replenish inventory.

·           Inspects and measures tools and equipment for defects and wear, visually or using micrometer, and has tools repaired or sharpened as required.  Includes sending items for resharpening or recycling and instructing recipient what needs to be done when they arrive at their destination.

·           Issues or delivers items to workers in a timely fashion, and maintains records of items issued and returned.

·           Determines that machine operators/others are asking for the proper item to complete the task for which the item is requested and can explain how each item works and what it is used for.

·           Establishes Job Kits for the CNC machines and assembly operations.

·           Receives, unpacks, and stores incoming items in their proper location.  Marks and identifies items. 

·           Locates lost or misplaced items. 

·           Maintains secure storage of items.

·           Works independently, but as part of a team, with minimal oversight.

·           Attends work in person, on time, on a regular and reliable basis.

·           Completes all tasks in an accurate, complete and timely manner.  Is detail oriented.

·           Has a strong service mindset and works well with others.

·           Follows directions.  Asks questions to clarify if needs more information.

·           Follows all safety protocols, helps others follow all safety protocols and alerts their supervisor or management to any safety risks that are discovered.

·           Administers guidance, coaching to encourage workers to comply with company policy and, if delegated to them, discipline workers who do not comply with company policy.

 

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

·           Training and Experience:  3 or more years of trade school, vocational education, work experience, or apprenticeship.

·           Reading and Comprehension:  Ability to interpret and understand documents furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, set up sheets, process sheets, etc.  Ability to prepare routine reports.

·           Mechanical Ability:  Is mechanically inclined.  Ability to understand how each item works and what it is used for, such as drills, taps, reamers, and end mills, and ability to explain it to others.

·           Math Ability:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.  Ability to interpret graphs.

·           Computer Skills:  Ability to enter and retrieve data relevant to job function using company ERP system, Microsoft Office software and other programs.

·           Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.

·           Physical Demands:  The employee is required to:

- stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.

- exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or

- exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or

- exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

·           Visual Acuity:  Ability to read or otherwise obtain information from blueprints, computer screens and precision measuring instruments.

·           Communication:  Ability to understand and be understood in communications with others.  Ability to communicate effectively with workers and management in both written and oral form.

·           Working Conditions:  the employee is subject to:

- high noise levels from operating machines

- physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts

- breathing fumes, dust and mist

- skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid
