Job: Bakery Production (Baker’s Helper)
Reports to: Bakery Production Supervisor
Summary:
Assists various departments to ensure that the highest quality of product is being prepared and distributed.
Responsibilities:
Fryer/Bench:
· Follow all GMPs and SOPs
· Move and distribute bakery supplies and products in and around production area of bakery, using hand trucks, dollies and troughs
· Assist in measuring ingredients
· Lift and dump containers of materials to help load and unload machines, bins, hoppers, racks, and ovens
· Feed raw dough into hopper or between rollers of machine
· Grease, line, or dust pans or boards preparatory to receiving product for baking. May cut, turn, or twist dough into specified products and fill baking pans with dough/filling
· Observe and rearrange baked/unbaked products on conveyor before products enter slicing machine
· Push racks of bakery products into designated areas to await further processing.
Wrapper:
· Follow all GMPs and SOPs
· Package bread, dinner rolls, buns, etc.
· Feed buns/bread through machine for slicing.
· Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of packaged products to standards, such as making sure the product is properly sealed.
· Regulate the metal detector and machine speed.
· Place finished and packaged product in boxes or on pallets for distribution.
Catcher:
· Catch, pan, and count donuts as they are finished according to the Fryer count sheet.
· Regulate metal detector according to the specifications.
· Remove finished items from machine and separate rejected items.
· Follow all GMPs and SOPs.
· Inspect and remove defective products.
· Clean and remove damaged materials.
· Fill products with specified fillings as needed.
· Report any maintenance issues immediately to your Supervisor.
· Clean and sanitize filling machines.
Laborer:
· Feed finished product on to the line to be packaged, inspect for quality, and discard any unusable product in the appropriate location.
· Package product in appropriate containers per specifications.
· Catch product and place it in the respective container according to weight or serving size.
· Run product through metal detector if needed and document metal detection accurately
· Seal and label products as required
· Place finished and packaged product in boxes or on pallets for distribution.
· Stretch wrap pallets and take to freezer, warehouse or shipping using a manual pallet jack.
· Maintain freezer inventory.
· Place any unused product in its appropriate storage location.
· Complete any packaging QA paperwork.
· Follow all GMPs and SOPs

· No experience is required
Education Requirements:
· Adequate to meet skill requirements
Skill Requirements:
· Basic Math skills
· Multi-task skills
· Reading comprehension (ability to read and speak English can be required for certain assignments
· Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs and up to 50 lbs
· Must be able to work in a warm environment (Summer months) - Bakery
